A few more notes on the design and process:
The Corellian Tanker is an exploration of an imagined sister ship design for the Millenium Falcon, a Corellian transport ship from the Star Wars franchise. I sampled some of the iconic design traits from the Falcon, such as a multi-window cockpit canopy, radar dish and defensive cannons, and applied them to a body shape that is almost inverted from the Falcon. Instead of mandibles, leaving a space in the middle of the front of the ship, I made a long central shell, which could contain a tank, making the ship suitable for the transportation of liquid materials. To the rear I made a squared off shape instead of the circular shape we know from the Falcon. And lastly rather than integrated engines aligned horizontally, I made external, rounded engines that align with the front shell, giving the ship a purposeful and strong center axis. I ensured that the cockpit area and the cannon compartment were connected with a long hallway, and one can imagine a lounge area in the center of the ship. And lastly I sprinkled all the greebles I could onto the design. Worn armour plating, and imagined tank-like "kit-bashing" elements. This, of course, to emulate the design and modelling process from the 1977 Star Wars Movie model making shop.
